You can grasp much of the Dhamma by reading about it in books or studying in suttas. That’s important, but it only gives you an external view. What you really need is to see for yourself where frustration, boredom, and restlessness–and also good qualities like stillness—come from. When you understand this process, you grow in insight. But to get there you have to develop calm and peaceful states of mind. The deeper that peace and stillness are, the more you understand the true nature of things .
